Act on the Word to Effect Changes

“Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the people to get moving! Use your shepherd’s staff – hold it out over the water, and a path will open up before you…”

Exodus 14:15-16 (NLT)

Have you ever wondered why your prayers are sometimes not answered? There are many reasons for unanswered prayers. Let’s examine one of the reasons.

Sometimes Christians experience frustration in their lives because they fail to act on the Word. They pray and then try to ‘convince’ God to do what they are to do. For example, you want Him to change a situation He already gave you power and authority to change, but you fail to act.

Moses and the children of Israel were trapped between the Red Sea and Pharaoh’s advancing army. They cried out in fear. But Moses reassured them of God’s deliverance and began crying out to God to do something. However, God instantly interrupted Moses with the words, “Why are you crying out to me?…get moving!” (Exodus 14:15). God was reminding Moses, ‘I already told you I would deliver everyone. Now, YOU do something; stretch forth your hand and divide the sea.’

Moses, in obedience to God, stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Red Sea parted. God’s power was activated the moment Moses acted on His instruction in faith. This teaches us that unless we take action to change our circumstances, they may remain unchanged.

God has given us His Word. We must study it in order to know how and when to exercise authority and take action. 1st Corinthians 2:12-13 (NKJV) says, “Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have freely been given to us by God. These things we also speak…”

The principle is: you have to speak the things that have been freely given to you by God. If you don’t say it, it will not work. Your faith-filled words, spoken in alignment with the Word, activate His power in your life. So, speak God’s Word over your life and see His power manifest on your behalf.

The blessings and results belong to those who act on the Word, the doers of the Word. James 1:22 says “…be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves (NKJV).”

Prayer

Heavenly Father, help me to be a doer of the Word so that my faith-filled words will activate Your power in my life. Help me to remain in Your Word and experience victory, transformation, and the fullness of Your blessings. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
